The Howard Hughes Corporation is searching for a Director of Sales for its Westin at The Woodlands hotel. The hotel is located in the award winning master planned community of The Woodlands, Texas 45 minutes north of Houston. The hotel features 305 guestrooms, concierge floors, 15,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, two restaurants and 2 lounges. The area around the hotel is home to multiple Fortune 500 companies, The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, shopping, dining and entertainment venues.
The Director of Sales is responsible for leading and driving the Sales team effort to achieve budgeted metrics.  Developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating the hotel’s sales objectives and strategies. This position effectively manages the efforts and productivity of individual Sales Managers.  The role ensures that effective internal and external communications with business partners are maintained; helps create and maintain a high level of awareness for The Westin at The Woodlands. 
Prepare budgets and forecasts for group and non-group room nights, ADR and room revenues.
Monitor the hotel’s progress in achieving monthly revenue targets and propose and implement initiatives to reach those goals.
Produce monthly booking pace reports for group and non-group room nights and revenues.
Interact daily with Sales and Revenue managers to monitor production and mentor their individual efforts to achieve their goals.
Lead daily Business Review Meeting to review group leads, approve rates, and offer specific direction to close the business.
Monitor inbound lead production from Marriott National Sales Offices and Howard Hughes Hospitality (HHH) hotels to insure proper and timely follow up to maximize conversion.
Manage hotel’s relationship and expenses with HHH Director of Marketing.
Establish and maintain long-term relationships with customers.
Responsible for defined vertical market and/or house accounts with quarterly production goals.
Lead weekly sales meeting for review of GRC and strategies to move business through the funnel.
Manage and grow any third party relationships including Marriott GSO, Helms Briscoe, and others.
Attend weekly Operations meeting, all general staff meetings, and various departmental meetings to establish story ideas for press releases.
Assist with the direction and implementation on internal sales campaigns that drive sales.
Actively participate in select community related organizations in an effort to promote The Westin at The Woodlands with focus on local charities, the CVB and the Chamber of Commerce.
Cross sell and market opportunities with other HHH properties.
Work in a cooperative and friendly manner with fellow employees, set a positive example.
Provide the highest level of guest service to the hotel’s clients.
Maintain professional attire and personal hygiene.
Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
Read, understand and follow all policies, procedures and practices as stated in the Employee Handbook.
Promptly report substandard (unsafe) conditions to Supervisor.
Promptly report accidents, injuries, property damage or loss to Supervisor.
Keep accurate communication flowing freely among all hotel departments.
Inform management promptly of any work-related problems or guest complaints.
Promote the hotel through goodwill, courtesy and a positive attitude.
Attend all scheduled training classes and meetings.
Continue to learn and grow in the position.
Perform any reasonable request as assigned or directed by management.
Provide for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
Comply with all applicable federal, state and local laws ordinances as they apply to the hotel, guest and employees.
Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction.
Selects qualified employees and provides orientation and training.
Conducts employee meetings and counseling sessions in order to maximize employee morale and manage productivity goals.
Determines and communicates standards of performance to employees. Evaluates employee performance on a regular basis and recommends salary increases as appropriate.
Coaches and develops employees’ sales skills to maximize potential and prepare them for future promotional opportunities and assist employees on career development.
Insures that disciplinary action is taken as required ensuring consistency, fairness and respect within framework of established guidelines.

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision.
Extensive knowledge of sales skills.
Must possess basic math and computational ability.
Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to Microsoft Office and ISAC.
Ability to assess/evaluate employees’ performance fairly.
Ability to supervise, train and counsel subordinates.
Knowledge of hotel and competitive market.
Ability to establish and execute appropriate action plans.
Desire to participate as part of a team.
Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management or Sales and Marketing field preferred or 8+ years of hotel sales experience in lieu of degree.
Minimum of three years hotel sales in a Leadership/Director’s Role is required. Starwood or similar branded, full service hotel experience preferred.
