POSITION SUMMARY:  
The Marketing Director,  provides leadership and marketing expertise, strategy, analysis, evaluation and the resources necessary to achieve each assigned hotel’s top line revenue budget.  Additional responsibilities include leading, coaching, advising and implementing procedures, programs, and initiatives that support revenue goal.    
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • Review Marketing strategies employed to build individual unit’s brand awareness and all related strategies to achieve budget revenue goals.
  • Assess current hotel’s condition relative to its rate and market positioning, and make necessary recommendations if inconsistencies exist.
  • Create, launch, or re-launch plans and strategies for new or existing properties and/or service additions. Participate in due diligence efforts as required.
  • Review and assess current use and deployment of appropriate marketing tools and resources including websites, advertising (consumer, trade, directory, image, tactical), direct marketing, revenue maximization practices, public relations, third party marketing firms, public branding tools, packages, co-op marketing, food and beverage marketing, recreation marketing, group marketing, and on-site collateral.
  • Grow each hotel’s individual brand story, brand spirit, pillars, and visual identify.
  • Work with each branded hotel’s corporate marketing team to ensure maximization of their offered resources.
  • Ensure implementation and support of all Brand marketing initiatives (Customer Intimacy) and require necessary metric/measurement procedures to assess results. Led the re-positioning of the Resort with respect to marketing, advertising, promotion and public relation activities and strategic direction.
  • Analyze all aspects of the Hotel/Resort Marketing Department based on pre-determined and objective criteria, and provide necessary resources to address all relevant needs.
  • Evaluate future booking pace for both group, business travel, and leisure to identify revenue and performance shortfalls and upside opportunities.
  • Assess hotels’ defined competitive market(s) and defined competitive sets and their relevance to each hotel/resort based on current/future market conditions and market/industry changes and fluctuations.
  • Assess current action plan and business plan and short/long-term strategies and tactics and their relevance to current market conditions and future/planned hotel performance. Make necessary recommendations and adjustments relative to proformas, etc.
  • Assess and determine the hotel/resorts’ clear understanding of their customers, segments, competition, and the properties’’ positional relationship to and within these.
  • Evaluate all data capture procedures and maintenance of critical company information within sales, marketing, reservations and other key sources of key marketing information.
  • Ensure timely follow-up on all traffic report initiatives, as executed by the marketing team.
  • Maintain consistent, quality communication with all property, regional and corporate constituents on all substantive issues.
  • Manage hotel’s marketing budget and accurately forecast future expenditures based on upcoming strategies, programs, agency commitments, and hotel programming.
     
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible marketing experience developing and executing customer strategy and products, or programs that drive business success in the hospitality industry.
  • Experience with market competitive analysis.
  • Strong management, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to assess/evaluate employees’ performance fairly.
  • Ability to supervise, train and counsel subordinates.
  • Professional interaction with clients and vendors.
  • Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business or related field required.
  • MBA preferred.
 
 
DESCRIPTION/DEGREE OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
 
  • Typical office environment

  • Sitting - Moderate: Ability to sit for prolonged periods.
  • Standing - Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 10 hours consecutively.
  • Walking - Ability to walk 1 to 2 hours a day and move in small areas.
  • Climbing - Modest: Lift, pivot and stretch, bend, squat and kneel with weight up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Balancing - Often required to maintain balance while carrying weight and reaching.
  • Stooping - Knees, back and lower body must be flexible enough for repetitious stooping as an ongoing function.
  • Kneeling - Some kneeling on hard surfaces.
  • Twisting - Continual demand of radius of 120 degrees, either direction from the waist, head, back or neck.Constant knee, hip, ankle and foot rotation.
  • Reaching - Continual ability to reach above head with full arm, shoulder and hand extension and rotation.
  • Finger Dexterity - Finger and thumb dexterity must be full range with consistent use.
  • Grasping/Gripping - Minimal, right and left hands need to grip to constant 5 lb. pressure
  • Feeling - Ability to detect and differentiate heat and cold, pressure registration, moisture, hard, soft, thin, and thick.
  • Talking - Able to continually communicate fluently in English.
  • Hearing - Able to hear diverse scopes of pitch levels, volume, respond to noise and alert at all times.
  • Vision - 20/20 vision with or without aid.
